A Michigan woman died after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle crash on Shafer Trail, just outside Canyonlands National Park.
According to a press release from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, 54-year-old Ann Redner was riding motorcycles Thursday, Oct. 12 with a friend on Shafer Trail when she lost control and crashed on the road. Her body fell from the trail over a 150-foot cliff. Although her riding partner was able to call emergency personnel, Redner was pronounced dead at the scene.
Members of Grand County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team assisted members of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and National Park Service in extricating Redner’s body from the bottom of the cliff. Her body has been taken to the Utah Medical Examiner’s office in Salt Lake City for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.
