While AAA is offering the service free of charge to locations within 10 miles, the company is urging motorists to plan for a safe ride home before heading out to celebrate.
“Be sure you have a plan to get home safely if you’re out celebrating this year,” said Michael Blasky, spokesperson for AAA. “If that plan falls through, give AAA a call and we’ll get you home.”
To access the Tipsy Tow service, call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) between 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and 6 a.m. Jan. 1, 2018. Callers will need to provide the driver’s name, home address, phone number and vehicle/driver location. The program will provide a free 10-mile tow and ride home, even if you’re not a member. For mileage beyond this, motorists are charged a standard towing rate. The service does not include roadside assistance.
For Moab, the AAA-designated tow service is Nation’s Town, and manager Jayce Burton said motorists need to call the toll-free number, not the Nation’s Towing dispatch number listed in the phone book.
“They should call the 1-800 number because AAA will have to give them an authorization number for the ride,” Burton said.
