Florence C. Beattie, 44, was arrested April 5 by GCSO deputies after a traffic stop revealed that the tan minivan she was allegedly driving was last registered in 2015.
While a deputy was interacting with Beattie during the traffic stop, a second deputy arrived and his K-9 alerted to the possible presence of narcotics, leading to probable cause for a search of the vehicle. A pat down search of Beattie did not locate any controlled substances or weapons.
During a search of the vehicle, however, a deputy observed a small dark container on the right side of the driver seat and found a bag of suspected methamphetamine, two needles, a small glass vile containing a liquid, three and one half pills identified as Oxycodone, some miscellaneous tools and a small plastic wrapper containing a brown/green waxy substance later identified as containing cannabinoids.
As the search of the vehicle continued deputies located several large folding knives on the front seat in a purple bag, as well as a wallet containing nearly $500. In all deputies reported upwards of ten grams of methamphetamine were seized during the search. According to records check by deputies, Beattie has previously been convicted of weapons charges and is precluded from possessing them.
Beattie was taken into custody and transported to the Grand County Jail. She is being held on a $11,980 cash-only bail.
