A physical altercation with her boyfriend landed a Florida woman in jail Dec. 21. Police were called to a Main Street motel on a report of an ambulance needed and when they arrived, the officers heard a woman and a man yelling at each other. The man was standing outside a motel room door and the woman was inside the room, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
The man, 23, from Pennsylvania, had fresh scratches on his face and a swollen, bloody lip. He said his girlfriend, 22, struck him in the head several times during an argument after he refused to have sex with her, according to the report.
The woman, who also had dried blood on her mouth, said the man pushed her down after they argued and she struck him. She admitted to drinking 10 shots of Jaegermeister at a local bar before the argument occurred at the motel, according to the report.
Police also found two glass pipes in the room and syringes that the woman said the boyfriend had because his uncle is diabetic, according to the report. The woman was charged with possession of paraphernalia, intoxication and simple assault.
Former hospital building vandalized
Police investigated a report of vandalism at the former Allen Memorial Hospital building on 400 North. On Dec. 16, a worker discovered that a door had been pried open. The door jamb was also damaged. Nothing appeared to be missing and no other damage was reported, according to a police report.
Tree vandalized
A man reported finding the word “YOU” spray-painted on a large cottonwood tree at property located on Apple Lane, according to a Moab City Police report. The tree is located inside a fenced, gated property. The case was closed due to lack of leads.
