A man and his girlfriend were both cited on charges of domestic violence assault after police were called to their home on Emma Blvd. on the afternoon of Oct. 13. The woman, 28, told police that her boyfriend had choked her, threw her down a stairway and pushed her onto a bed during a fight earlier in the day, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
The man said the woman hit him in the head with a flashlight before she left the apartment. The woman was in the process of moving out, according to the report.
Police investigate possible burglary
Moab City Police officers were called to a home on 100 East Oct. 14 after the resident reported a possible burglary the previous night. The woman told police she heard someone upstairs in the building, then heard the person climbing down the side of the house and jumping to the ground, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
Police found no trace of footprints, but did set up extra patrols in the neighborhood, according to the report.
Man arrested for intoxication
A man, 60, found passed out on a park bench on Moab’s west side was arrested Oct. 13 and taken to Grand County Jail.
Police were called to the area at approximately 8:56 p.m. after a passerby noticed the man and called for help, according to a Moab City Police Department report. The man appeared intoxicated and had difficulty walking, according to the report. Police helped him to a patrol car and took him to jail to sober up, according to the report.
Man arrested for DUI
A Moab man was arrested Oct. 21 when he drove away from a party after telling police he was too intoxicated to drive, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
Police were called to a home on 500 West due to a noise complaint. Officers spoke with several people and checked identification to make sure they were all old enough to drink, according to the report. One man, 21, told police he was too drunk to drive but could walk to his home a short distance away. He left the home and walked south on 500 West, but a short time later, police discovered that the man’s vehicle was no longer parked nearby, according to the report.
Police found the car as it turned south onto Wingate Ave. and pulled it over. The man failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The man’s father was allowed to retrieve the vehicle to avoid having it impounded.
Man arrested on outstanding warrant
A Moab man was arrested Oct. 21 after police pulled over the pickup truck he was driving due to a license plate violation, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 12:21 a.m., according to the reports.
The officer initially thought the truck did not have a rear license plate, but upon closer inspection discovered that the license plate light was not working, according to the report.
The driver, 46, smelled of alcohol and police asked him to submit to a field breathalyzer test, according to the report. The man did not have a valid driver license and, because of a previous conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol, was required to have an ignition lock installed on the vehicle in order to legally drive, according to the report.
Police also discovered that the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant in West Valley City, Utah, according to the report.
The man was arrested and booked into Grand County Jail.
