The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Moab Field Office is seeking public comments on an environmental assessment (EA) analyzing Lisbon Valley Mining Company LLC’s proposal to modify its existing copper mining exploration plan to facilitate future exploration.

“As good neighbors to our local communities, BLM wholeheartedly welcomes and values your diverse views,” said Moab Field Manager Christina Price. “The most effective comments address concerns specific to the analysis or project area.”

The BLM supports working landscapes across the West through its many programs, including mining and minerals. If approved, the proposed plan modification would authorize drilling 11 groundwater monitoring wells.

The EA is available for review online at Written comments will be accepted from Aug. 8 through Sept. 6. Comments may be submitted online via or mailed to BLM Moab Field Office, 82 E. Dogwood Ave., Moab, UT 84532. Comments should reference “Lisbon Valley Monitoring Wells” in the subject line.

Before including an address, phone number, email address, or other personal identifying information in any comments, commenters should be aware the entire comment — including personal identifying information — may be made publicly available at any time, BLM officials said. All submissions from organizations and businesses, and from individuals identifying themselves as representatives or officials of organizations or businesses, will be available for public inspection in their entirety.
