She was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Walsenburg, Colo., grew up in Grand Junction, Colo., with her mom, dad, sister, Violet, and brother, Teddy.
She got married, had three daughters, Terri (Alan), Diane (David) and Stacie (Timmy), and gained two more daughters and a son, Sandi, Suzi and Jerry, when she married D.D. Carey. They then moved to Moab in 1961, where she and D.D. lived the rest of their lives.
Barbara had a great love for her whole family; she loved her church (Moab Baptist Church) and Pastor Cole Howe and all the people in it, and a lifetime of friends. Her family would like to thank them all for treating her so well. Also, a big thanks to the Moab Diner and the wonderful staff there, who treated her like part of their family, and in the end, the Canyonlands Care Center, for the peace of mind you gave us for the exceptional care you gave to her.
At Barbara’s request, cremation had taken place and memorial services will be held June 14 at 11 a.m. at Moab Baptist Church on Kane Creek Boulevard.
