David L. Arthur Sr., age 73, of Montrose, Colo., passed away May 15, 2018. David was born July 26, 1944 to Leonard and Helen (Tamm) Arthur in Hamilton, Mont. David married Janet Babb on Aug. 14, 1966 in Montrose and she preceded David in death on July 21, 2015.

They were members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Montrose. David and Janet had also resided in Moab before moving to Montrose where they made their home until their time of death. David was employed as a service man for Natural Gas for many years prior to his retirement. He also worked for Sharing Ministries and loved to spend time in the outdoors, fishing, camping, hiking and working in the garden.

David knew the Lord and this was very important to him and his family. The bible verse John 3:16 was his favorite; “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have eternal life.” One of the first bible verses children learn is John 3:16 as it carries the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. David was known as a kind and generous man. He knew no strangers and was a friend to all he met.

Survivors include his son, David L. Arthur Jr. (Sandra), of Bullhead City, Ariz.; daughters Danace Arthur and Deana Sanchez (Theodor) both of Grand Junction, Colo.; brothers John Arthur of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Pat Arthur of Ordway, Colo.; one sister Ella Booth of Grand Junction, Colo.; five grandchildren Kendra, Joel, Tori, Davanna and Cody and three great-grandchildren: Allyson, Peyton and Xavier. David was preceded in death by his wife Janet and brother Roy Arthur.

A gathering and celebration of his life was held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his home in Montrose. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
