The Devils Garden Loop Road and Trailhead in Arches National Park will be closed from Monday, June 16 through Thursday, June 26 for completion of a major renovation project, park officials said in a news release.

Visitors who are traveling the park road during that period will need to turn around at the Sand Dune Arch Trailhead parking lot, officials said.

The trailhead is located at the end of the park’s 18-mile main road and is the access point for a variety of popular areas including Landscape Arch, Double O Arch, Dark Angel and the Primitive Loop Trail. All trails that are accessed from the Devils Garden Road and Trailhead will be closed while the renovation project is completed, according to the news release.

The Devils Garden Campground will remain open to campers who have scheduled reservations.

Water will not be available at Devils Garden Trailhead during construction, so visitors should remember to fill their water bottles at the Arches visitor center before they drive into the park, officials said.

“The road and trailhead closure will allow the park to re-align the road in order to create more efficient angled parking, and construct a dedicated tour bus and large RV parking area,” according to the news release.

The public is “strongly encouraged” to visit the park either before or after the scheduled road closure period because available parking will be limited inside the park.

Park officials said early morning or evening travel into the park is “highly recommended.”
