Anyone who is interested in volunteering or would like more information about hospice is encouraged to attend. Grand County Hospice staff will provide an interactive educational experience that will prepare community members to help care for the dying and their families in their home.
“If you have ever experienced hospice in your personal life, you certainly understand the compassion and support it offers,” said Grand County Hospice Director Jessica Walsh. “We would like to invite you to share your talents with our patients and families and experience the reward inherent in this work. Participation in no way commits you to volunteer; we welcome anyone who wants a better understanding of hospice.”
Topics covered in the training will include the history and philosophy of hospice; the hospice team approach; physiological, emotional and spiritual aspects of terminal disease and death; comfort measures; grief; communication and boundaries; family dynamics; and rituals.
Space for the training sessions is limited so those interested are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
To register for the training, contact Walsh at 435-719-3772 or by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
