Jim’s early years were spent in Montrose, Colo. The family moved to Moab, Utah, when Jim was 10 years old. He spent the rest of his youth in Moab, where he met his wife, Jean Gordon. They moved to Salt Lake City and were married in 1962.
Jim was a respected member of the IBEW Local 354, was a master electrician with over 40 years of work experience and was the superintendent for DeVoge Electric, Inc. Jim retired in 2011.
Jim was an avid reader, a fly fisherman and enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities with his family. We will miss his singing, dancing and his wry sense of humor.

He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Ellen and Ray Alger; his dear friend and companion, Sandy Garlick; sisters, Katie (Murray) Hanway, and Bonnie (Ray) Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his daughter-in-law, Debi; and father, Bill Brock.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 10600 S. 1950 East in Salt Lake City, with a visitation from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.larkincares.com
