We call ourselves “mankind” yet I walked away from the Shelter thinking anything but “kind.”
My mother just adopted a dog in North Carolina that had his legs broken by some kids with a baseball bat. Here in Moab I saw a Great Dane who has a broken body because its owner pulled it behind a truck. I then saw a sweet dog that had no ears because its owner cut them off. Do these things sound “kind” to you? They sure don’t to me! They make me feel sick inside knowing that mankind can be so cruel.
I wish I could reciprocate these hurts to the owners and ask them how they like having their ears cut off, or being dragged behind a vehicle. But I will leave that to God to judge and punish. What I do want to say to all these so called humans is this, “before you treat your animal in a cruel way, call me and I will come get your defenseless animal and take it away from your abuse.”
If there is anyone out there with more love than they know what to do with, go to the Shelter and take an abused dog or cat home to love. All they want to give us is unconditional love. Show them that not all mankind can be cruel.
