Participants are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at the stage room at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center, 111 East 100 North, to complete volunteer forms and paperwork. An indoor training session will also be conducted at the time, prior to the group heading into the La Sal Mountains.
At 9 a.m., the group will carpool up to the Geyser Pass trailhead for on-snow training with LUNA’s snow-grooming machines.
Participants are advised to dress “very warmly” for the outdoor session and to bring their “warmest boots for standing on snow.” Participants also should bring their own lunch, water and hot beverages, according to an announcement from LUNA.
The outdoor volunteer training is expected to last at least until 1 p.m. and possibly later, according to the news release.
Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Kirstin Peterson at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 435-260-0042. For additional information, contact Peterson by phone or email.
