Emery High School took first place overall with 136 team points, while Grand placed second with 107 points. Manti was a distant third with 38 points. San Juan, which had only two golfers, scored 20 points, and Gunnison was fifth with 17 points.
Leading the way for Grand was sophomore Joopy Bamrungmuang, who scored 32 points, while fellow sophomore Jamie Day scored 31. Senior Sarah Day scored 23 points for the Lady Devils, and sophomore Annie Kopell scored 21.
In Utah, high school girls golf is scored using a modified Stableford scoring system, whereby five points is awarded for shooting par on any given hole, and one point is deducted for each stroke over par.
Also competing for Grand but not scoring among the top four players were senior Alexa Pierce, who scored 18 points, and junior Charly Kohler, who scored 15.
This week, the Lady Devils were scheduled to travel to the Millsite golf course in Ferron for a region match hosted by Emery High School on Wednesday, April 12.
