Scott, a second-grader, is the daughter of Warren and Lisa Scott.
The staff and faculty of HMK said Scott was chosen, in part, because she “is a very bright and capable student who is a wonderful classroom helper and will help out other students when necessary.”
Her teacher, Teryn Estenson, said, “Lillian produces neat and careful work and displays many leadership qualities in the classroom. She pays careful attention to what is being said, she is polite, and works quietly without disturbing others. Lillian also gives her best when completing school work and never backs down from an extra challenge when one is given to her. I am proud to have Lillian in my classroom!”
Moab Mayor Dave Sakrison and the Moab City Council presented the award to Jones at the March 12 city council meeting.
The HMK Students of the Month are selected by the faculty and staff of the school based on their all-around citizenship and their involvement within their school. The city of Moab presents the award as part of an ongoing effort to foster and recognize the contributions of young people within the community in practicing good citizenship.
