Ayden Ceniceros, Tygis Glencoe and Kayden Robertson took second place in their respective divisions for the Little Devils. Placing third were Andrew Jones, Lucas Caylor, Peyton Hatathley, Breckin Shepherd, Lane Peterson, Cayden Audenried, Jason McKinney and Jaxon Carroll. Dayton Robertson, Connor Swasey, Caden Swasey, Ean Ellis, Collin Randall and Dane Glencoe took fourth place and Oscar Martinez placed fifth.
“This season has been wonderful and I look forward to next year. I have to thank Kelly Sheets for coaching and all the parents for helping and letting us work with their kids,” said coach Ed Guerrero.
On Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16, the team traveled to Grand Junction, Colo., for the Little Warrior Classic wrestling tournament. Twenty-six wrestlers from Grand County competed in the event.
Taking first place for the Little Devil team were Conner Swasey, Ean Ellis and Ayden Ceniceros. Trea Meyer, Tygis Glencoe, Kayden Robertson, Dayton Robertson, Breckin Shepherd, Lane Peterson, Caden Swasey, Cayden Audenried and Collin Randall took second place in their respective divisions during the tournament.
Little Devil wrestlers who placed third were Dane Glencoe, Landon Young, Oscar Martinez and Jason McKinney. Caison Ault, Cash Ruggeri, Michael Mallory and Kaison Guerrero took fourth place in their divisions while Morgan Alvey, Preston Young, Aiden Allred, Braxton Martinez, Andrew Butterfield and Jaxon Carroll placed fifth.
“This was possibly their toughest tournament of the year and they faced some really good wrestlers from several different programs,” Guerrero said. “As expected, they performed well and showed great sportsmanship. It amazes me as I watch other wrestlers as to how well our Little Devils perform. I saw so many of the other wrestlers locking hands and using illegal holds, but our Little Devils did not.”
