The Humane Society of Moab Valley is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the launch of a special membership program called Membership PLUS, sponsored and underwritten by Mountain America Credit Union.

More than 50 Moab businesses have signed up so far to offer year-long discounts and deals throughout the Moab area as part of the Membership PLUS program. Area residents who purchase the card will receive discounts at one of 18 restaurants, a variety of retail shops, hair salons, massage therapists, the Moab Golf Club, Gravel Pit Lanes, and the Moab Music Festival, by presenting their membership card.

The Membership PLUS page at www.moabpets.org lists all businesses and the discounts available.

“The Humane Society hopes that our PLUS card will support us in continuing our mission of rescuing and serving the animals that enrich all of our lives so deeply,” said the organization’s director, E.J. Gore in a news release. “In 10 years, literally thousands of animals have been saved – a pretty amazing feat that started out with four people and a lot of determination. Since then much has happened including the Humane Society’s financial contributions to helping the City Shelter to be built – and now culminating in a strong and valued partnership between us and Animal Control, headed by Randy Zimmerman.”

The Humane Society fosters and adopts out homeless animals and also provides medical care including surgery; bottle feeding homeless kittens, spaying and neutering programs, and exercising animals at the city shelter. The group also sponsors an active feral cats program and assists people in need with feeding and caring for their animals.
