After the game began, it only took three minutes for Jaxen Saunders to find his way to the Wildcats’ goal, as he drove in a spindly kick from 25 yards out. Saunders took a total of three shots in the game and all were true, forcing the Richfield keeper to work overtime on saves.
The next score for the Red Devils came from Jaxen Saunders — with an assist from Juan Gonzalez — midway through the game. Saunders was a perfect 1-of-1 on goal and was a steady force on defense throughout the game.
In all, Richfield faced 16 shots-on-goal from Grand County on a total of 18 shots.
Grand keeper Jacob Shumway barely missed a clean sheet as Richfield scored on one of their three attempts. Shumway recorded a pair of saves against the Wildcats.
The Red Devils will travel to Manti on Thursday, April 12 and will return home the following Tuesday, April 17, to host North Sanpete.
