As I look back I can see that our “sex education” helped to fire our young imaginations (how could it do otherwise) and was an enticement along a destructive path.
I wonder how Webster (father of our English dictionary) would have reacted to words like “responsibly,” “healthy,” “choices” and “education” being used in the current campaign to “sex educate” the youth of Moab? What makes this redefinition of words chilling is that children are the focus of this experiment. Young people in this community are bearing the load of pregnancies, abortion, disease, guilt, and shame that will mar and harden many of them for the rest of their lives.
At the end of the day I wonder how many will look back and see that what we were told in public school was “safe sex” was not safe, and what was called “sex education” was far from a real education. And as I reflect, I recoil that I have been “educated” and thus desensitized to the point of even using such terms in public.
