Little things mean a lot. Just a little salt adds to the flavor of a meal. Just a little medicine can cure a dread disease. Just a little light at sunrise allows us to recognize the beauty of creation. Be thankful for the little things.

Be thankful for a little faith. It is written that just a tiny bit of faith can move mountains. Be thankful that you believe that when all is said and done, life is worth living, that life has purpose and meaning. A little faith gives us the confidence to live each day in peace regardless of the turmoil that may surround us.

Be thankful for a little hope. The fulfillment of your dreams lies in your hope for the future. At times, others may discourage you. At times, you may become discouraged, but with just a little hope for your future, for a brighter tomorrow, the living of this day has meaning. It is hope that allows you to trust in your dreams, in yourself and in the God who is the source of our faith and our hope.

Be thankful for a little love. Paul, the apostle, wrote, “Love is patient; love is kind, and not jealous. Love does not brag and is not arrogant. Love does not act unbecomingly, it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered. Love bears all things ... endures all things. Love never fails.” Nothing adds more to our lives than just a little love.

Thanksgiving is an American tradition. We Americans should be very thankful that at just the right time in just the right place a small group of men with a little faith, hope and, yes, love, wrote: “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

That one little sentence was a springboard to the future that made our nation, under God, the most freee and strongest nation in the history of civilization. Oh, the power of the little things.

On this Thanksgiving Day, be thankful for the little things.
