The team and coaches should be proud of themselves also. Our school district is lucky to have such an amazing group of young men representing them.
Why I am writing this letter is to bring up the fact that Grand County High School will be having Spirit Week and homecoming celebrations the week of Sept. 24 and the football game will be Friday night on Sept. 28. I have heard so many times around town that the “school spirit” is not as big as it used to be. Well, I would like to challenge everyone in Moab to really support our school and “Paint the Town RED!”
I have seen small towns all over the state decorate their storefronts and such with the school colors and it does make an impact on the visiting team and spectators. It really wouldn’t take much – some streamers, balloons or window chalk to dress things up. Also, think of the local businesses that would be selling the items – this could boost everyone’s spirit.
As adults, alumni and parents, it is not fair for us to give the student body a hard time for not having enough school spirit when we don’t even show enough. If you think I am pointing a finger at anyone, just keep in mind that the other three are pointing right back at myself.
Okay, Moab, and all Grand County residents, even if you are not an alumnus of GCHS. The student body of Grand County High School does have an impact on you so let’s impact them first. Get out all your red and white and wear it; hang a banner or sign for support and head out to any and all the school events that will be happening!
Let’s all paint Moab RED and show our Red Devil Pride!
