The U12 boys team (FC) posted two more wins and remains undefeated in league play, officials said. In the first match, they defeated the OCSA Storm from Ridgeway by a score of 9-4. The Moab team had strong performances on offense from Juan Gonzalez, Nolan Ramirez, Kevin Park, Teddy Park and Kane Scherer.
In the following match, Moab triumphed over the Telluride Crossfire, 13-1, anchored by solid goal-keeping from Cameon Hoppensteadt and Ben Mcgraw and stout defensive play from by Jose Taveris, Wyatt Gholson, Josie Camps, Philip Geiser, Alex Lacy and Eli Taylor.
The U10 girls team (LGZ) also went 2- 0, with a tight 3-1 win over the Tri-City SA Cortez Galaxy and a forfeit. The Cortez match was highlighted by impressive performances from Neelie Relph, Kaci Mckinney and Tava Walling, along with incredible goal keeping from Jaci Shumway, coaches said.
In a show of courage, the girls agreed to a scrimmage with the Durango club team that had dominated them in their very first league match this season. This time, with strong physical play from Edna Dominguez, Jessica Jones, Olivia Medina, and Paige Shumway, along with offense generated from Mona Taylor, Chloe Talbot and Zoe Kosa, the game was tied at halftime.
Despite the injured Anika Scherer making an appearance in the second half, Durango prevailed.
The next scheduled league play will be in Montrose, Colo., in two weeks, local coaches said.
