According to Carson’s father Kelly, Sheets wrestled two brackets at the event: a loaded 16-man bracket in the fifth- and sixth-grade division, and a four-man round robin in the seventh through ninth grade division. He competed in the 75-pound weight category in both events.
In the fifth and sixth grade bracket, Sheets finished 3-2, coming one match short of placing for a medal.
“He then placed second in the seventh- through ninth-grade bracket, losing narrowly to a ninth grader from Salina,” Kelly Sheets said, adding that Carson went 2-1 in that bracket, 5-3 overall in his eight matches for the day.
So far this fall, Sheets has competed in five little league tournaments, posting an overall record of 15-10.
Traveling to Provo last weekend with Sheets was Monticello’s Brayson Wilcox, who placed second in the 95-pound weight class in the seventh- through ninth-grade division.
