
The local club donated 144 personalized dictionaries to all third graders in Moab and Green River.
“The students were surprised and excited to find out that they were allowed to keep their personally dedicated dictionary for their rest of their lives,” Rotary officials said in the news release.
In Moab, teachers from Helen M. Knight Elementary School and the Moab Charter School assisted the Rotary Club members in handing out the dictionaries to their students on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Rotary is the largest international service club in the world. It has 1.2 million members with 34,00 clubs in 163 countries. The club supports communities at home and abroad in a variety of ongoing service projects.
The Moab Rotary Club sponsors the all-night senior graduation party, the improvement and expansion of Rotary Park, the dictionary project for third-graders, high school and college scholarship programs, job training and sponsors RYLA exchange students. The Rotary Club also works with programs that aim to combat hunger, improve health and eradicate polio worldwide, and provide clean water and sanitation systems in third-world countries.
