The first part of the competition will take place Jan. 12 at the Golden Spike Equestrian Center in Ogden. Hutton will be traveling there with her horse, Frisco Bill, according to a news release from Sorrel River Ranch.
If Hutton is chosen to be among the top six competitors after completing an interview with judges and leading Frisco Bill in a riding pattern competition, she will move into the next round, which consists of spending 20 minutes working an unhandled 2-year-old horse while explaining the training methods used.
Hutton says she is confident she will end up in the top four, according to a news release. Those in the top four will be given one of the 2-year-old horses to take home and train until the actual horse expo, which is scheduled for March 15-17.
The competition is sponsored by Purina, so Hutton will receive free feed for the horse if she is successful.
Updates on Hutton and Frisco Bill will be posted on Sorrel River’s Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/SorrelRiverRanch.
