Beginning Feb. 7, aspiring oil painters can learn about color mixing, values and composition. Taught by artist James McKew, whose work is included the permanent collection of the Grand Teton Lodge, “Beginning Oil Painting with James McKew” will be offered on Thursdays beginning Feb. 7 and continuing through March 14. The class includes six two-hour sessions and all begin at 6 p.m. The cost is $75 ($67 for MARC members) and supplies are not included.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Star Kolb will offer a workshop in henna tattooing. The one-night class, “Henna Tattoos for Lovers,” will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. Kilb will offer an introduction to creating temporary tattoos with henna, including preparation, technique, application and care. A history of the use of henna will also be featured.
The cost is $30 ($27 MARC members). Supplies are included.
Beginning photographers – or those who haven’t quite figured out how to use the features of the camera they already own _ can take a one-day course to learn about getting great shots. “Using Your Camera” will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fine art photographer Steve Traudt will lead the class and offer information about various camera settings as well as composition. All types of cameras are welcome.
The cost is $110 ($99 for MARC members).
For those interested in learning about creating jewelry from fused glass, Colorado artist Dawn Sudmeier will offer “Fused Glass Pendants,” an introduction to making two styles of pendants using dichroic glass, a sparkling, metal-coated glass with patterns or designs. The course includes instruction on how to fuse glass and participants will create two pendants in class. The pendants will be fired the next day.
The class will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $110 ($99 for MARC members) and most supplies will be provided.
