He was born Aug. 28, 1953, in Moab, Utah, to Joseph and Opal Jackson Lemon. David was a longtime resident of Moab, where he worked at several grocery stores in the area. As a longtime member of the Moab Elks, David assisted with many community projects in the area. He shared a great love for the outdoors around Moab and spent years hunting and fishing with his family. After leaving Grand County, he made his home in East Carbon, where he worked as a baker at the Price Wal-Mart.
On May 14, 2009, he married Lynn Burton in Price, Utah, and together they touched the lives of many.
David had a wonderful sense of humor and he brought great happiness to those around him. He loved to visit and never met a stranger. His unique personality and comforting ways enabled him to make friends with anyone. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Lemon, East Carbon; daughter, Tabatha (Thomas) Sanchez, Lazear, Colo.; step-children, Andrea Taylor, Raleigh, N.C., Kim (Mike) Smith, Tooele, Jeanette (Dale) Lund, Layton, Debbie (Todd) Byers, West Jordan, Matt Taylor, Sandy, Ross (Christina) Taylor, Roosevelt, Rachel (James) Melton, South Jordan; sister-in-law, Karen Lemon, Sunnyside; aunt, Ellesa Ekker, Moab; uncle, Jack (Rose) Jackson, Lincoln, Neb.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents,; brother, Jerry Lemon; granddaughter, Shaelynn Taylor; nephew, J. L. Lemon; and niece, Karen Hopkins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 E. Main St.) in Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell’s on Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Grand Valley Cemetery, Moab.
