GCMS students Alexa Pierce, Tia Shumway, Jalysa Farnsworth and Jayelen Knowles created the video, “Financialize by 18.” The video can be viewed online on the Zions Facebook page, along with the other 15 finalists from Utah middle and high school students. Finalists were chosen from a pool of nearly 70 entries, according to the news release.
The makers of the film that receives the most votes will win the $1,000 cash prize, plus a $1,000 matching award for their school. Second- and third-place winners will receive $500 and $250, respectively, plus matching awards for their schools, according to the news release.
“The 60-second video from Grand County Middle School shows how making bad financial choices when you’re young can put important things like college tuition at risk when you’re older,” Zions Bank officials said.
Voting will remain open through March 31. Winners will be announced the week of April 8.
