Dalton, 20, a junior right-side hitter for the Utes, led the Pac-12 All-Star team in aces with nine during the two-week tour, which included multiple matches at Huaian City north of Shanghai, and in Beijing. Dalton also was second on the team in points scored with 66, second in kills with 57, and third in blocks with 4.5. She also contributed 19 digs, according to the University of Utah athletic department.
Dalton and Utes head coach Beth Launiere were the only representatives from Utah who were part of the all-star team, which included 13 players from the Pac-12 athletic conference along with three coaches.
The group also visited the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and other Chinese landmarks during the tour.
Although the Pac-12 All-Stars lost all five of the matches they played during the tour, two of the matches went to four games. At Huaian on June 19, the Jejiang team defeated the Pac-12 All-Stars three games to zero (22-25, 18-25, 14-25). The Pac-12 team then lost to Jiangsu 3-0 in a scrimmage match (26-28, 24-26, 17-25) on June 20, and 3-1 in an actual match to Jiangsu the following evening, (13-25, 23-25, 25-15, 24-26), also at Huaian.
On June 23, at the Beijing University students’ gymnasium, the Pac-12 All-Stars lost 3-1 to the Tianjin team (25-23, 26-28, 19-25, 23-25). Then, on June 24 at Beijing, the Pac-12 squad was defeated by the Chinese Army Team, 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 17-25).
Dalton is a 2011 graduate of Grand County High School, where she excelled in volleyball, basketball, and softball for the Lady Devils. She is the daughter of George and Paula Dalton of Moab.
