Buckshot served in the U.S. Army from February 1965 to February 1971. He lived a full life cowboying in the mountains and desert of the Intermountain West. His loves were horses (all phases), fishing, good working dogs, hunting, family and telling stories to anyone who would listen.
He is survived by three daughters, Darlena Schlachter of Cheyenne, Wyo., Yvonne (Justin) Leavitt, Monroe, Utah, and Valene (Josh) Robertson, of Monroe, Utah; three sons, Gratt (Corinne) Dalton of Emery, Utah, Rusty (Amber) Barnes Rangely, Colo., and Casey (Alicia) Gines of Grand Junction, Colo.; three sisters Betty (Ike) Gilpin, Coleen (Milo) Randall, and Lynda Moore; a brother, Cecil Kay (Susie) Dalton; 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a whole remuda of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Neva Dalton; a daughter, Yvette Dalton; and a sister, Bertha (Burt) Adkinson.
At Buckshot’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Grand Center, 182 North 500 West, in Moab.
