Grand had seven riders – five boys and two girls – who competed in the Division 2 category. Freshman Bjorn Nicolaisen finished second among 26 riders in his category. Among junior varsity boys, Grand’s Preston Bagley-Gurtner placed third among 48 finishers in that group, while his teammates Jamie Marshall and Max Lesoine finished fifth and seventh, respectively. River Murdock placed 15th among sophomore boys.
Junior Robin Willscheidt of Grand placed 17th among JV girls in Division 2, while teammate Brityn Ballard took 13th among sophomore girls.
There are two more races remaining on the season schedule for the Utah High School Cycling League. The next event will be on Oct. 26 at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah. Two weeks later, Moab will host the final event, the state championships on Nov. 9. The competition will take place on the Bar M trail system north of town.
