The Grand San Juan Association of Realtors recently awarded the group’s third grant to the Moab nonprofit organization Community Rebuilds. The $1,500 grant is made possible through the Utah Association of Realtors Housing Opportunity Fund.
The fund assists nonprofit groups that help with affordable homeownership and repairs to primary residences throughout Utah. Community Rebuilds strives to replace dilapidated homes, such as pre-1976 trailers, with energy-efficient straw bale homes. The group is currently constructing its sixth home with help from a student labor crew, which lowers construction costs and keeps the home affordable.
