Jones, a fifth-grader, is the daughter of Traci and Ryon Jones.
Her teacher, Jamie Carter, said Jones was nominated in part because she is “an exemplary citizen.”
“She demonstrates good work ethic and a great attitude. She is willing to work hard to accomplish her goals and always has a smile on her face,” Carter said. “She is not easily frustrated and is very good at working in a team situation. She includes everyone and is well-liked by her peers. She has great study habits and always does her best. We are lucky to have her as part of our community!”
Moab Mayor Dave Sakrison and the Moab City Council presented the award to Jones at the Feb. 25 city council meeting.
The HMK Students of the Month are selected by the faculty and staff of the school based on their all-around citizenship and their involvement within their school. The city of Moab presents the award as part of an ongoing effort to foster and recognize the contributions of young people within the community in practicing good citizenship.
