The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Moab Field Office is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment (EA) proposing designation of approximately 7 miles of motorcycle singletrack. The singletracks would provide connectivity between the Rabbit Valley area and the Mel’s Loop motorcycle trail near the Westwater exit on Interstate 70, according to a news release from the BLM. Motorcyclists would be able to link the trail systems without traveling on paved roads, officials said.

Comments must be sent by letter or email by Sept. 8.

The draft EA is available for review on the Environmental Notification Bulletin at (search for the word “motorcycle.”) Those who submit comments should reference “Motorcycle” in the comments. Written comments may be emailed to Katie Stevens at: or mailed to: Bureau of Land Management, Moab Field Office, Attn: “Motorcycle,”82 E. Dogwood Ave., Moab, Utah 84532.

“Please note that the most useful comments are those that contain new technical or scientific information relevant to the proposed action,” BLM officials said in the news release. “Comments should be as specific as possible. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.”

The comments may be made publicly available in their entirety at any time, BLM officials said. Requests to withhold personal identifying information from public review can be submitted, but the BLM cannot guarantee that it will be able to do so. The BLM will not consider anonymous comments. All submissions from organizations and businesses, and from individuals identifying themselves as representatives or officials of organizations or businesses, will be available for public inspection in their entirety.
