Sakrison joined the program in 2002, and has participated at his residence, his business, and then influenced the city of Moab to take the lead for the entire community. Now Moab is a pioneer in sustainable living and an example for other Utah cities.
“Mayor Dave has been a force for positive change, who saw the potential of Blue Sky when it was first introduced,” states a press release from Deb Dull, regional business manager for Rocky Mountain Power. “He has made a real difference in the community through his support of renewable energy projects and his participation in Blue Sky.”
According to Dull, Blue Sky provides a convenient way for customers to support the development of renewable energy projects both in their area and the western United States, and currently has nearly 50,000 customers participating.
Moab now has 735 Blue Sky subscribers (92 percent of those are residential customers) and a growing number of Wattsmart program participants. As part of the Wattsmart program residents can enroll to receive four free energy-efficient LED bulbs. Sign up online to receive the kit at: bit.ly/wattSmartKit.
