Carlyn’s husband, Clint Spinks, who was the love of her life, passed in 2015 leaving her broken-hearted. She never quite recovered her vibrant spirit after Clint’s death. In her happiest days, she and Clint walked the streets of Moab, played cards, shared meals with family, and worked at her son’s restaurant. She loved sitting around a campfire with family and friends listening to stories, singing campfire songs and watching Clint play guitar. Carlyn also loved baking and her home was always filled with the fragrance of brownies, pies, and cookies that she shared with everyone. Carlyn also loved to go thrift shopping and see what treasures or puzzles she could bring home. An avid jigsaw puzzle solver, she could often be seen in the front window of her home watching the traffic go by while working on her latest puzzle.
Carlyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Pat Buckingham, as well as two sons, Daniel Buckingham and Jack Buckingham. Carlyn had also said goodbye to her sister Joan (Allred) Flynn, and brother Gilbert Allred. She is survived by two sisters, her sons Robert Buckingham (Janet) and Tim Buckingham (Sherrie), her grandchildren Rachel Winebrenner (Joe), Justin Buckingham (Tara) and Ian Buckingham (Casey) as well as two great-grandchildren.
At Carlyn’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service. She will be interred with Clint at Grand Valley Cemetery at a later date.
