She was born in Orlando, Florida on Nov. 24, 1946 and grew up seeing much of the world, given that both of her parents were in the Air Force. Her mother, Lt. Louise Myers, was a physical therapist and her father Col. Bill Myers was a fighter pilot.
Sally attended Cheyenne Mountain High School and graduated from Colorado State University. During her time in college she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and there met her husband, Noel Hingley. Sally and Noel were married in June of 1968 and had an amazing, loving life together. They raised three children who are left to cherish her memory: Morgan, Amber and Daniel, as well as six grandchildren.
Sally found beauty and wonder in the small things that most people pass by; a weed growing from a crack in a rock, the sound of the wind rustling the leaves, or the way a tiny insect looked on the leaves of a flower. She was intensely close to nature as well as animals. Throughout her life she could not pass by a single hurt or suffering animal without helping, be it a baby opossum whose mother had been hit by a car, a tiny baby chick that could not walk, or a simple mouse that was injured by an animal. She provided daily physical therapy and care nurturing them back to health. Most of all, she loved intensely and was loved intensely by her family and friends.
She earned a Master’s Degree in social work but found her greatest joy as an accomplished artist. She was a master gardener and loved creating ceramics, hiking and enjoying nature. She loved traveling, was a voracious reader and was always ready for an adventure. Her grandchildren were a great source of her happiness and will carry a spark of her unique spirit into the future.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center from 1:30-3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sally’s name to the Humane Society of Moab Valley where Sally volunteered her time. https://moabpets.org/ways-to-help/donate.html.
