Editor,

Thank you! I have been reading your paper since Adrien was the editor, and I had the pleasure of getting to know her personally through our shared love of spinning.

She once lent her antique spinning wheel to me, invited me to help teach felting to Ms. Stoughton’s class, and dedicated an editorial to me. It wasn’t about wool though.

I have been sifting through 40 years of papers and was delighted to find an editorial she wrote back in 2013. What a lady–she had apparently taken her vehicle out of town for some needed repairs, angered a reader and answered her in a graceful, thoughtful and fun way. What a lady!

I have been sharpening my own pen lately by paying the Advertiser to publish “R U A Loca (L)?” ads. It has been very helpful, as I am currently unemployed, so every penny has to count.

I have been finding more and more obits in your paper of Grand citizens I have had the pleasure of knowing and am saddened to see pass on.

Thank you for your long-running dedication to the folks of Grand County and for truly being the Times-INDEPENDENT!

–Patrice Mason
