The staff and faculty of Helen M. Knight Intermediate School, along with Moab Mayor Dave Sakrison have announced that Martin Espinoza is the recipient of the Mayor’s Citizenship Award for October.
The staff and faculty of HMK said Espinoza was selected because he is “happy, friendly and is always smiling and polite.” They said Espinoza is a responsible student who follows school rules and describe him as “an all around nice boy who shows respect for others and respect for learning.”
Sakrison and the Moab City Council recognized Espinoza at the council’s Dec. 9, regular meeting.
The Students of the Month are selected by the faculty and staff of HMK based on their all around citizenship and their involvement within their school.
The city of Moab presents the awards as a way to foster and recognize the contributions of young people of this community in practicing good citizenship.
