Anne Marie Putz Peternell, 93, died July 1, 2008 at a long-term care center in Sonora, Calif.
Anne was born Nov. 15, 1915 in Rock Springs, Wyo. She was raised there, attending Rock Springs schools, and graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1932. She married Frank Peternell in 1937 and lived in the Rock Springs area until 1954.
After spending a year in West Virginia the family relocated to Utah. They resided in the East Carbon area for eight years and then moved to Moab where she lived until 2002. In 2003, she established residency in an assisted-living home in Sonora, Calif. Early this year Anne had three heart attacks that required her to be moved to a long-term care center until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1985, three brothers and four sisters.
Anne is survived by her two sons, Frank (Crystal) Peternell, Arnold, of California, and John (Pamelynn) Peternell, Lacey, Wash.; one sister, Helen Chadey of Rock Springs, Wyo.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a rosary and vigil service at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moab, Utah on Monday July 14 at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Moab.
