Gladys Marie Gary passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2008. Gladys was born on April 6, 1926 in Okmulgee, Okla. She was raised and attended school in Okmulgee, and attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla.
She married Clive Duane Gary in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Glad lived and worked in Moab for 43 years. She worked for Texas Gulf Potash Plant, then managed the Texas Gulf Credit Union, and then worked for the Arches Trading Post after she retired from full-time work.
Glad was an active member of Alpha Rho Philanthropic Sorority for 38 years, and she was much loved for her wacky sense of humor and positive attitude.
She was an ardent collector of glassware, recipes, and antique furniture. She loved music and sang for many years with the Valley Voices. She was an active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and the St. Francis Alter Guild.
Glad is survived by her three children, Diane Tibbitts (Cap) of Medford, Ore., David Gary (Charlotte) of St. George, Utah, and Clive Gary (Terry) of Spring Creek, Nev. Gladys has seven grandchildren, Amy Saar and Robert Tibbitts (Cap and Diane), Candice and Megan Gary (Dave and Charlotte), and Dylan, Marcus and Danica Gary (Clive and Terry). In addition, she has two great-grandchildren, Emma and Luke Tibbitts (Robert and Kristy Tibbitts).
A viewing was held at Kimmerle-Hefner Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Thursday, July 17, at 1 p.m.
