Richard Alvin Parrish passed away on Aug. 31, 2008 at the hospice unit of the Prescott, Ariz. VA hospital. Richard was born in Effingham, Ill. on Feb. 29, 1929. He was the first son of Clifford Parrish and Mildred Field Parrish.
He attended school in Chicago, Ill., graduating from Wilson Junior College. Richard started an apprenticeship in photoengraving at R. R. Donelleys & Sons in Chicago and became a journeyman printer, working for Donelleys for 27 years.
He met and married Lesley Leniak in September of 1953 and had three children, Leanne, Bryan and Deidre. The family moved to northwestern Wisconsin in 1972, where all three children graduated high school.
In 1984, Richard and Lesley moved to southwestern Colorado and Richard started an auto window repair and replacement business. A family member in California needed their assistance and they moved there for several years. After retiring to Arizona they turned to full time RVing. Medical problems then brought them back to Colorado for several years, after these problems were resolved they again went back to full time RVing.
Richard and Lesley were married for 54 years.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Leanne Buck, of Cordova, Alaska; her son, Peter Weldon, of Bejing, China; and her daughter, Katy Ann Apple of Mancos, Colo., and Katy’s daughter, (Richard’s greatgranddaughter), Kaydence Apple; Richard’s son, Bryan Parrish, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his daughters, Faith and Heather; and Richard’s daughter, Deidre Kelly, of Moab, and her sons, Trevor Mott, Nicholas Mott and Andrew Kelly, and her daughter, Elora Kelly.
Richard is also survived by his niece, Cindy Thompson, niece, Lori Carr, and his nephew, Clifford Parrish. Richard was predeceased by his younger brother, Stuart Parrish.
Services will be private in Moab. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to any local hospice care center in your area in Richard’s name.
