William Louie Caffee, 87, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction on Nov. 15, 2008.
William was born in Byers, Tex. on January 8, 1921 to Chester and Colesta Bean Caffee. He grew up in Texas, attending school and then college. After two years of college he was drafted into the Navy during World War II. Following his time of service he married Mary Lou Wise on May 25, 1949 in Plainview, Tex.
William started to work for a missile defense contractor and stayed with that work until he retired as an engineer. William worked in Vandenberg and was transferred from Santa Maria, Calif. to Green River, Utah 45 years ago for work. When the base closed in Green River he was transferred to Sunny Veil, Calif. until he retired. He then returned to Green River 32 years ago and stay there ever since. He was a member of the AARP and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of Green River; a son, Dr. Mark (Suzanne) Caffee, of West Lafayette, Ind.; a daughter, Nancy Lou Caffee, of Fresno, Calif., and two grandchildren, William and Richard Caffee.
