Sharie Gay (Truax) Morgan, 68, of Canon City, Colo., passed away peacefully June 6, 2009 at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo with her family by her side.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ralph U. Morgan. They were to have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on June 11.
She is also survived by her son, Troy Hall Morgan, and daughter, Tammy Louise (Duayne) Tomlinson, both of Colorado Springs; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Cathy Sue (Jack) Barrett, of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Sharie was born Dec. 17, 1940 to the late Don William and Miriam Louise (Copenhaver) Truax in Hutchinson, Kan. After her father’s death in WWII, her mother married Claude Hall (deceased), and the family relocated to Denver, where Sharie attended school, graduating from North High School in 1958.
Sharie met the man she would marry, and her best friend for life, while attending the Barnes Business College in Denver. In 1961, Ralph and Sharie were married in Lakewood, Colo., and began raising their family.
They lived in several areas throughout their marriage including Colorado Springs, Houston, Tex., Phoenix, Ariz., Huntington Beach, Calif., El Paso, Tex., and Canon City, where they retired in 2001.
Sharie was full of energy, and loved being involved in her community. Among her interests, she was president of the New Neighbor’s Club, a member of the Gadabout group, and her passion was playing bridge with her closest friends several days a week.
Sharie was a dear, sweet little woman, and was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, and her work in the community she loved will be remembered for years to come.
Sharie requested no funeral services, and asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Fremont County Humane Society at 110 Rhoades, Canon City, CO 81212.
