Timothy Jones, 1972 ~ 2009

Timothy John Jones passed away peacefully in his sleep, June 11, 2009. He was 36 years old. Tim was born in Montrose, Colo. on Dec. 8, 1972, the third child of John Jones and JoAn Leber.

Tim was always a happy child, willing to go along with everything his big sister, Tina, and big brother, Rick, came up with. When little brother, Joe, came along, Tim relished his role as big brother. Even after his parents divorced, Tim kept his happy-go-lucky attitude. He enjoyed spending time with his half-brother, Matthew, and half-sister, Deborah, as they joined his family.

Tim married Monica Archuleta in Denver, Colo., on March 9, 1991, and lived there for 7 years. They had three children, Timothy, Viola and Florentino, before divorcing in 2004. Tim moved back to Grand Junction to be near his family.

Tim moved to Moab in December 2006, to be close to his dad, John. Tim worked at several jobs around Moab, and enjoyed talking to people everywhere he went. He was a member of the Interact Club, and loved traveling to various functions with the members and staff. One of his favorite activities was going fishing with his buddies.

Tim’s greatest love was reserved for his family, and he cherished every minute he spent with them.

Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents: Richard and Lois Leber; and Louis and Iola Jones; uncles, Bud Leber and Sonny Jones.

He is survived by his children, Tim (Christina), Viola and Tino, and one grandson, Nathan, all of Denver. He is also survived by his mother, JoAn Taber, Grand Junction, Colo., and his father, John (Kimberly) Jones, Moab; his siblings, Tina Blasier, Moab; Rick (Jennifer) Jones, Grand Junction; Joe (Kim) Jones, Grand Junction; Matthew (Jenibeth) Jones, Moab; and Deborah (Jacob) Adams, Moab; friend and brother-in-law Troy Blasier, Vernal; and lots of nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 19 at 2 p.m. at Moab’s Rotary Park on Mill Creek Drive. A family interment ceremony will take place at Cedar Hills Cemetery in Ouray, Colo. at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Tim’s name should be sent to the Interact Club, 59 North 200 East, Moab, Utah, 84532.
