With Tuesday’s appointment of two new members of its board of commissioners, the board of the Housing Authority of Southeastern Utah is once again operating at full strength.
The Grand County Council voted unanimously to appoint Sharon Relph to a position on the HASU board that is reserved for a mental health professional. Relph will replace Rick Donham, who recently resigned because of scheduling conflicts. The term for the board position expires at the end of 2011, county officials said Tuesday.
Judy Powers was appointed to a HASU board seat reserved for members of the real estate profession. She will replace Moab realtor Janie Tuft, who resigned from the post in November.
In her application, Relph described herself as a former member of the housing authority board who has extensive experience in the programs that the housing authority operates, manages and oversees.
Powers, in her written application, described herself as a longtime Moab resident who is “frustrated by the lack of affordable housing in this town… and the continued loss of affordable rentals to condos and weekend retreats for second-home owners.”
