Yovani MystiKal Lopez-Luna passed away suddenly on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 in Moab, Utah. He was born on Oct. 24, 2000 in Moab, Utah to Marjorie Begay and Louis Fernando Lopez-Luna.
Yovani was an energetic 10-year old boy who loved to play basketball with his friends and especially loved skateboarding at the skate park. He was a talented boy, always helping the younger children by fixing their bicycles.
He loved the many teachers and special mentors that he had at Helen M. Knight Elementary School and he enjoyed spending time at the library.
Yovani spent many happy hours working for Fritz at the laundromat. And he especially loved joking about the pizza-eating contests with Moab Police officer Shaun Hansen and the special friendship that they shared.
Yovani was preceded in death by his uncle, Benroy Begay. He is survived by his sisters, Mariah, Nicole, Mystica, and Shakira; his brothers, Lenin and Juan Pablo; grandmothers, Maryanne Begay and Bette Wimmer; his aunts, Marlene, Marilyn, and Melanie; his uncles, Ronzo, Marvin, and Herman; many cousins, cousin-brothers, cousin-sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to invite Yovani’s friends from the community to attend his funeral services. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Kimmerle-Hefner Funeral Home in Moab. The funeral service will be on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
