James “Jim” Albert Sarten passed away March 17, 2011 in Grand Junction, Colo.
Jim was born Sept. 13, 1933 in Clovis, N.M.
He fought and was decorated during the Korean War as a United States Marine, and later served in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer (Second Lt.).
Jim made his home in Moab, where he raised his family and shared his love of the canyonlands area. Throughout the years, Jim owned and operated many businesses while in Moab, but his one true passion was being on the river.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 51 years, Elda; brother, Rod Sarten (Tanja); sisters, Nan Davis (Rodney), and Wanda Ratliff (Larry); daughter, Cris, and sons, James and Steve; and grandchildren, Kaleb James, Sara Louise, and Hadley Elda.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place on Wednesday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 250 Kane Creek Blvd. in Moab, Utah.
