Cody Ray McCormick passed away Aug. 29, 2011 in Depoe Bay, Ore. from an accidental drowning due to a head injury from a fall.
He was born May 18, 1985, in Moab, to Tracy Flynn McCormick and Carl Ray McCormick. He attended Bingham High School.
By a very young age Cody was very athletic, eagerly learning to swim on his own at 1 year old. By grade school, baseball and football were his love, and he was always a team player. By middle school, Cody had taken the state title in wrestling. In recent years, Cody enjoyed collecting and shooting guns, riding his dirt bike and playing basketball.
In 2003, Cody met his fiance, Rachelle Gentry, and her son Andon. They later had a daughter together and named her Penelope (Sissa).
Cody had the most amazing blue eyes and had a magnetic personality. Cody will be incredibly missed by all who loved him.
Cody is survived by his fiance, Rachelle Gentry, daughter, Penelope Rachelle McCormick, and stepson, Andon Avery, all from Lincoln City, Ore. He is also survived by his sister; Aubrey McCormick Campbell her husband Rob Campbell of West Jordan, Utah; and brother, Hunter K. McCormick of Herriman, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joan K. Flynn; grandfather, Richard E. McCormick; and uncle, Dirk McCormick.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 9, at 4 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 6500 Redwood Road, in Salt Lake City. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at noon in Moab at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
