Albert Dan Holyoak, 82, passed away Oct. 1, 2011 in Moab, Utah
Dan was born July 17, 1929 in Alamosa, Colo. to A. Daniel and Etholen Dunn Holyoak. He spent his childhood and graduated from school in Moab. He was an honorably discharged veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He married Laura Jean Fleming in Moab, Utah on Nov. 19, 1955. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on Oct. 11, 1956.
Dan wore many hats. His long-time career was real estate broker. He loved working with people and helping them. He was always giving to others. He served as a Grand County Commissioner and on several boards. He was instrumental in creating the Spanish Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District.
Dan leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Jean Holyoak of Moab, Utah; his children, Danette Groesbeck of Moab, Doug (Michelle) Holyoak of Grantsville, Utah, Eric (Tracey) Holyoak of Las Vegas, Nev., Sue-Lon (Greg) Drew of Jackson, N.J., Catherine (Will) Hansen of Kuna, Idaho; two sisters, Genevieve (Loren) Johnson and Sara Ann Cundall, both of Moab; 21 grandchildren and three step-grandchilden; 10 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews and other dear relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Thursday Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Moab LDS Stake Center on Locust Lane. A viewing was held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary and another will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church on Thursday morning. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
